The ECA sub regional Office for Southern Africa (ECA-SA) based in Lusaka, Zambia serves the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The main function of the ECA-SA is to translate the UNECA’s normative and analytical work into operational activities at the sub regional and country levels, particularly with respect to harmonising policies and programmes of action, providing policy advisory services, facilitating regional integration and generally serving as focal points for policy dialogue and information exchange. ECA-SA works collaboratively with Regional Economic Communities (RECs), inter-governmental organizations (IGOs), private sector, civil society organizations and the United Nations Country Teams (UNCTs). An Intergovernmental Committee of Experts (ICE), comprising senior Government experts from the member States and a sub organ of the ECA conference of Ministers of Economic Development and Planning provides policy direction and supervises the work of the ECA-SA.

staff capacity to support professional development. This section links up with ECA's Library and will focus on
encouraging members to share best practices and foster knowledge dissemination
