The community of practice on “Governance and Popular Participation" will underline the centrality of good governance to improving Africa’s development prospects due to the crucial role of institutions in development, and the importance of promoting participatory approaches to development. Focus in this thematic area would be in promoting and monitoring progress towards good governance in all its dimensions and will also support the APRM, promote the institutional effectiveness of governance institutions, encourage participatory development and support actions to strengthen the African media.
